Geowars…Really?
Geowars…Really?
Over the past few days I’ve watched this meme about the so-called “geowars” ahead of SXSW gather steam, both in the blogosphere and on Twitter. And it’s giving me a headache. For some odd reason, people believe that SXSW is going to be a full-blown coming-out party for location-based services that will launch at least …  Read More →
Entrepreneurial Stereotypes on Display at SXSW
Entrepreneurial Stereotypes on Display at SXSW
Quick, picture a tech startup founder: Are they male, maybe around 27 years old, a resident of Silicon Valley? Apparently that’s what it takes to build a tech startup for a seed incubation program, at least according to the explicit and implicit wisdom shared at Seed Combinators panel today at South by Southwest. The panel, which featured...

Amazon, displaying a sense of urgency, perhaps driven by the pending launch of Apple’s tablet style computer is turning its Kindle device into a platform. Announcing the Structure 2010 Launchpad Finalists!
Vishal Sikka (SAP) joins Stacey onstage at Structure 2009. I can’t open my email these days without seeing a new cloud-based startup pitch (or three). Meanwhile, startups offering everything from platforms as a service to various ways to bridge hybrid clouds are raising venture capital (GigaOM Pro, sub req’d) after a fairly fallow...

What Startups Can Learn from Apple’s Antennagate
Engineers aren’t perfect. Flaws in software and hardware design are only natural in the tech industry. But what is not commonplace is knowing how to effectively deal with the fallout when engineering flaws become known. Apple’s “Antennagate” is the most recent high-profile product flaw at a tech company, and one that, so far, has left...

Can You Crowdsource Journalism? Seed Is Trying
In what he hopes will be the first big demonstration of the “crowdsourcing” potential of AOL’s new Seed.com service, former New York Times writer Saul Hansell says he is looking for writers who will write up interviews with all of 2,000 or so bands and artists at the SXSW music festival in Austin. The assignment will involve...

How Y Combinator Is Remaking Silicon Valley in Its Image
Y Combinator put on a tour de force Thursday. After five impressive years’ worth of molding fresh batches of startups, it packed 150-odd people with money into a room and schooled them in the art of giving its companies funding. The incubator’s second Angelconf , held at its headquarters in Mountain View, Calif. today, packed the room...

Right after reading this posting, I pondered the same point that I invariably wonder about when scanning new blogs and forums. Just what do I think about this? Precisely how must it effect me? This and extra posts in your weblog here undoubtedly give some stuff to consider. I basically ended up here via Yahoo when I was very first doing some internet investigation for some course work that I’ve. Usually very good times browsing through and I’m hopeful that you will maintain on writing new posts. Cheers!
